Governing your access to and use of our website
Welcome to the website of the Nova Scotia Firefighters Benevolent Fund (“NSFBF,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website located at www.nsfbf.com (the “Site”).
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Site.
1. Our Mission and Services
The NSFBF is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to active Nova Scotia firefighters and their immediate families during times of acute crisis. Our services include three primary assistance programs:
- Immediate Need: Support for urgent, short-term situations.
- Ongoing Need: Support for extended recovery or support periods.
- Extraordinary Need: Support for exceptional or unique circumstances.
The information provided on this Site is for informational purposes regarding our programs and mission.
2. Eligibility for Assistance
The assistance programs described on this Site are strictly limited to active Nova Scotia firefighters and their immediate families who are experiencing acute financial hardship due to crisis situations (such as sudden illness or injury). Application for assistance through the Site does not guarantee approval. All grants are subject to the discretion of our volunteer Board of Directors and the availability of funds.
3. Donations and Payments
We rely on the generosity of the public and local businesses to fund our programs.
- Donations: When you donate via our Site (e.g., through PayPal), you agree to provide accurate and complete information.
- Tax Receipts: As a non-profit organization, we will issue tax receipts where applicable in accordance with Canadian law.
- Refunds: Donations are generally non-refundable. If you believe an error has been made in your donation, please contact us immediately.
- Use of Funds: While we strive to honor the intent of donors, all donations are considered unrestricted unless otherwise agreed upon in writing, allowing us to direct funds to the areas of greatest need within our mission.
